App crashes everytime, if I could get it to run longer I might give it more stars.
I feel like I got ripped out of 7 bucks.
I guess my Curiosity got the best of me, save your money!
Get Thumb Jam instead
As a musician, I was really hoping for more from this app when I saw all the great reviews. I recently bought Thumb Jam and have since recommended it to musicians and students alike. I couldn't believe that someone on this page put this app in the same category as Thumb Jam.
Enough about the other app though, I'm not trying to sell anyone on buying a different app. iHolophone is just plain ol' crap. I tried to endure sitting through a full session with all the different "scenes". They're all just easy-listening techno beats, and I usually hate easy-listening but was able to enjoy it in "bloom" (which this app has nothing in common with). The instruments that are made available on any given setting are all pretty cheesy synthesized sounds that are completely washed down by effects.
Most of the presets give you two wheels divided in to four sections, giving you a total of 8 notes, 10 if you count the hard to use "bend" feature, and the geniuses who set up the wheel design basically give you the same note choices on each of the two wheels, they're just an octave apart in most cases. Having the ability to change your note choices doesn't amount to much unless you have musical knowledge, but that still doesn't amount to much with only 8 notes to choose from at any given time.
The instrument doesn't respond well. The sequencer isn't even fun due to the mediocre presets, and goofy sound choices. I have much more fun with an old casio keyboard, and a much better listening experience to boot.
The app is way too expensive for what you pay for, and though the quality is nice as far as the glossy shine and pretty backgrounds, the experience is ugly.
So yeah, I stick my tongue out at this one, in the worst possible way. I wish I could get my money back...
I wish more apps were so polished and innovative as this one. Tons of fantastic sounds, very easy to play even for my kids. One of the best apps on my itouch. Thanks again Amidio!
